By using razor wire as her primary material, Vespera's work aims to subvert aesthetics of violence by turning them into garments. This material exploration has resulted in a series of wearable sculptures, with the aim of reimagining the characteristics of body armour.
In May 2025 Vespera co-curated a group exhibition titled The Nonexistent Knight in Metamorphika Studio, Hackney. Inspired by Italo Calvino’s 1959 novel of the same name, the exhibition draws its inspiration from the novel’s protagonist Agilulf – the immaculate knight lacking a physical body.
“Ultimately, Vespera Xander’s practice builds an armoury for the vulnerable and the vengeful alike—where even a ring can become a weapon. Her universe is one where chivalry collapses into rebellion, and fallen angels and modern-day knights alike await their return, ready to be summoned back to life.”
